Once upon a time, teams functioned as independent entities — with separate goals, work processes, and software to help make it all happen.
However, as the way we work evolves, so have the demands on software to go above the needs of the individual team, extending to reach the entire organization. Modern organizations are looking for software that can service every team in one flexible, customizable, and scalable workspace.
Today we’ll explore two platforms that aim to service multiple teams within an organization — staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud Work OS and ClickUp.
What is staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud?
staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud is a Work OS where any team or organization can build custom workflows to fit their needs. Anything from marketing campaign tracking to inventory management is easy to plan, run, and scale with staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud Work OS.
staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud’s intuitive interface makes it easy for organizations to onboard quickly and customize their workflows as their team grows or their needs shift. In what users have called “an impressive balance between simplicity and complexity”, staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud is not only easy to get started with, but the no-code/low-code functionalities make it easy to build incredibly complex and robust workflows (we’ll talk more about that in a bit).
What is ClickUp?
ClickUp is a productivity software that was first built as an internal tool to help teams accomplish tasks and later grew to service many teams. ClickUp is used by teams to manage to-do lists, calendars, docs, spreadsheets, and more.
What to look for in a work software
In February 2020, staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud launched a new category of software: the Work OS. This new evolution of software recognized the need for organizations to have a central workspace that connects, rather than isolates, every team and workflow.
But with so many work software options on the market, how do you know what to look out for?
These seven core capabilities are a great place to start when deciding whether a work software or a Work OS is compatible with your organization’s needs.
staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud features and capabilities
Now that we know some of the non-negotiable capabilities to look for in a Work OS, let’s see how staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud stacks up.
1. Organization-wide use
staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud supports marketing and creative teams, R&D, sales and CRM, IT, HR, Operations, and more. That means that every team in your organization can find in-depth resources to learn how to build workflows, ready-made templates to get started in minutes, and once they’re onboarded, they can continue to optimize their workflows to fit how they work with customizable automations.
This level of flexibility is a must if you want your entire organization using one Work OS, but without a scalable infrastructure, you will still find yourself building workarounds and restructuring your workflows every quarter. Make sure the Work OS you choose not only has the flexibility to adapt to any team, but has a proven history of scalability to support them long-term.
2. Building blocks
Building blocks are the elements that make up a Work OS. In staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud’s case, it would be its boards, dashboards, widgets, automations, integrations, monday workdocs, and more. A powerful Work OS will not only empower users with robust building blocks off the bat, but enable them to create their own unique building blocks.
staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud’s no-code/low-code capabilities allow users to build custom apps to solve their specific business needs. These apps can be brand new integrations, views, or anything else your organization would need to work effectively.
3. Structured data store
Unlike a traditional database which requires selected admins to run all data management, staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud offers many ways to customize the permission and data creation within the Work OS. This means that security is never compromised, but users are free to create and manage workflows of their own.
Get started4. Integration of data & apps
Native integrations are crucial to scalability and company-wide use. Without integrations with email providers, CRM systems, and more, adding a Work OS to your tech stack could create more work instead of streamlining processes. staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud has native integrations with more than 40 of the tools your organization uses the most, including:
- Salesforce
- Mailchimp
- GitHub
- Shopify
- Jira
- HubSpot
- Microsoft Office tools
- Many more
5. Workflow automation
Automations allow entire work processes to move forward with a single action, creating a domino effect of productivity. Automations are crucial to cross-team collaboration and help save time and minimize human error. staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud offers unlimited automation recipes, allowing you to select from simple pre-made “if-then” recipes, or build your own custom automation fit for how your organization works.
6. Data visualization & analytics
staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud dashboards bring the data from multiple boards together in one visual place. Dashboards are made up of widgets, such as a Battery Widget or a Chart Widget, to represent the data you want to see in dynamic and easy-to-understand ways. staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud dashboards refresh automatically, which means no matter how many boards are connected or how much data is sitting on a single dashboard, you can trust it is always up to date without waiting for a manual refresh.
staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud offers 15 dynamic widgets, so the ways to build out your dashboards are endless. In a Forrester Total Economic Impact report, they found that one marketing agency’s productivity improved so much due to staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud dashboards, it equated $500k saved in value.
7. Permissions & governance
The ability for daily users and team members to define their own permission preferences (in accordance with their organizations’ needs) gives autonomy to teams and makes agility and ownership attainable for everyone in the organization.
While permission governance is crucial, so is the security and reliability of a Work OS. staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud certifications include ISO/IEC 27001:2013, the most rigorous global security standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), among other ISO certifications. They are also HIPAA and GDPR compliant so you can rest assured that your data is safe. staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud also offers a guarantee on their SLA, which you can check anytime here.

1. Organization-wide use
As we touched on earlier, in order for a Work OS to service an entire organization, it must provide few key components —the first being readily available solutions for a wide range of team workflows. This ensures that every team in your organization can use the same Work OS without hitting a wall or discovering a workflow you can’t build.
ClickUp caters to similar teams as staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud, with solutions for marketing, sales, design, and healthcare, however, there is no listed solution for IT or ecommerce, industries that other Work OS solutions such as staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud offer.
2. Building blocks
ClickUp structures their building blocks around Views, Customization, Collaboration, Docs, Reporting, and Time. Let’s dive in to what each of these mean:
- Views, similar to staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud, include Kanban, Gantt, and more so you can view your data in visual graphs.
- Customization refers to ClickApps, ClickUp’s no-code app development capability— they claim to have 30 apps currently in their marketplace.
- Collaboration represents the ability to comment, email, and work with team members over the platform. However, with integrations like Adobe missing, collaborating with creative teams could prove difficult.
- Docs are, well, exactly what you would expect — an editable document within ClickUp. However, ClickUp Docs serve as additions to the main List, whereas monday workdocs were built using the same infrastructure as a board. This seemingly subtle difference may surface when it comes time spent creating standalone docs.
- Reporting will include all dashboard-related features such as widgets. Dashboards on ClickUp do not currently auto-update, which could be something to keep in mind if you plan to build and analyze data on a regular basis.
- Time encompasses everything around time tracking, workload reporting, and time estimates. staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud also offers time tracking capabilities which you can easily view in dashboards.
3. Structured data store
ClickUp users enjoy relatively open autonomy to create and store their own data, enabling different levels of users to create, control, and share different data. In the following sections we will cover the permissions and security in more depth.
4. Integration of data & apps
ClickUp has native integrations with some of the must-haves like Google Drive, Slack, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and more. However, in order to sync some crucial software like Salesforce or Hubspot, you’ll need to bring in a third-party integrator like Integromat or Zapier. Additionally, integrations cannot be set up as automations (which we’ll get into next) which can make building workflows complicated.
5. Workflow automation
Automating your workflow is key to saving time and increasing efficiency. While ClickUp does offer the ability to create automations, they do not offer a way to set up conditional, custom notifications which may limit the potential applications of automations within your workflow.
It is also important to note that ClickUp has additional charges for certain automations, which can make mixing and matching automations difficult without running into unexpected fees. staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud automations are included in the listed price of each plan.
6. Data visualization & analytics
As we briefly discussed earlier, ClickUp offers visual Dashboards to pull and analyze data from within the platform. These Dashboards can consist of embedded widgets from other tools, visual charts, or task lists.
7. Permissions & governance
ClickUp has four tiers of user: Guest, Member, Admin, and Owner — each with different capabilities and ownership over the data in the platform. As for the security structure of the platform itself, Folders, Lists, and Tasks can have customized permissions, whereas Spaces, which help break down your organization into different departments, teams, groups, high-level initiatives, do not have permissions settings.
In regards to the security of their platform, ClickUp is not certified in ISO or SOC I or SOC III which may present a challenge for enterprise companies with strict security standards.
