Much like the Easter Bunny, this past Sunday our team put all their eggs in one basket.
Metaphorically, of course, and by eggs, we mean some quirks we wanted to resolve and upgrade.
Three of our teams — Boards core, People & Interactions, and Insights — worked non-stop to improve the experience on 40 (yes, you read that right!) features, so your boards and workflows could also feel like they underwent some relaxing Spring cleaning.
Here are the exciting improvements we worked on:
Inbox facelift:
The inbox got a fresh new layout. The filters were replaced with new tabs that allow you to choose the kind of updates you’d like to see: updates from all boards you’re subscribed to, updates in which you were mentioned, or simply all updates.
With the sleek new UI, getting updated on everything that’s going on in your team has never been easier and fun.
Dashboards improvements:
- Better widget dragging experience: our developers made sure that dragging and reordering widgets will (finally) work like a charm! You can now easily reorder, drag up and down, and even drag while scrolling – to make your dashboard look exactly as you’d like it to.
- Are you a dashboard owner? From now on, when visiting your dashboard, you’ll always access it in “edit mode” so you can get right to work if you need to.
- When subscribing a user to a dashboard, they are no longer automatically set as owners.
- The dashboard email invitation now always includes a link to the dashboard, and the image in it is relevant for your dashboard.
- Dashboard loaders will now always show in a single color.
Hot off the charts:
- You can now click to view more info (we call this feature “drill down”) on the People column, in addition to the Status column that was already available.
- The X-axes now supports the Connected Boards column
- Set (almost) any function you want on your charts: sum, average, median, minimum, or maximum.
Gantt love:
- More zooming options in our Gantt and timeline views – so you can see your plans in in any resolution you need them
- If you’re using the “Label by” option to show additional information on your items, It will now also show when you export to excel.
- Labeling options in Gantt view now also include an option to label by board name.
- Upgraded the Subitems group by groups got better terminology so it’s easier for users to understand and use.
And also…
- We always strive for an inclusive environment here at staging-mondaycomblog.kinsta.cloud. As such, we added more diversified emojis in the updates section so all of our users know they are valued, and feel represented!
- Columns with limited editing permissions no longer show with a light overlay and crossed line, in order to become more accessible. Instead, we show an un-clickable cursor, and upon clicking an explanation will show.
- To make the filtering experience smooth and avoid confusion, the “is any of” operator was changed to simply “is” (same for “is not any of”..)
- Activity log text can now be highlighted and copied!
- Subitems export now also includes formula, progress and mirror columns.
We added additional UI changes and improvements that make our platform easier to use and we can’t wait for you to try it out and enjoy the experience!
How did we do it?
As with all good things: we met together (at the office! Like the good old days…), ordered some pizzas, and started off by building a dashboard to track our progress.
Have other quirks you’d like us to fix? Any of the new updates we made got you jazzed? We want to hear from you! Let us know in the monday community!
